Sergeant Major Jay C. Shearer entered the U.S. Army in August 1995. He completed Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Advance Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas for MOS 91B Combat Medical Specialist.

SGM Shearer's operational deployments include Iraq in support of OIF, twice to Afghanistan in support of OEF and Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian.
